In 1977, Ringo Starr did four commercials hawking Simple Life Leisure Suits for Japanese TV. They contained variations of the song, "I Love My Suit" - sung by Ringo, featuring background vocals by Harry and Davy Jones of The Monkees - and a cool, sitar-laden instrumental psychedelic dirge, known as "Simple Life." This was in the summer of 1977, around the time when Davy was appearing in The Mermaid Theatre's stage production of Nilsson's "The Point!" As for who actually wrote these songs, we're not sure. "Simple Life" sounds like a Beatley jam, but Harry could at least be a co-author of "I Love My Suit." The rhythm arrangement bounces straight out of The Point!, with lots of familiar, Harry-esque piano riffs. For more details go to
